We specialise in the restoration of Steinway grands and an example of a typical ’before’ and ‘after’ is illustrated in the photographs on the right.
Whilst we are able to restore and rebuild all Steinway models we concentrate on the model’ O’ (5′ 10″ ) and the model ‘M’ (5′ 6″) to sell in our showrooms.
We recently rebuit a fine model ‘M’ and the work included fitting a new laminated tuning plank for improved durability and tuning stability – of particular importance when the instrument is to be sited in a centrally heated environment.
The action was completely overhauled whilst the casework was re-finished in ebony high polish.
Naturally the instrument was re-strung before David began the all important final elements of voicing and regulation
The Steinway was then moved from our workshops down to our showroom when it was first seen and played by the customer- an extremely keen and competent pianist- who ultimately purchased it.
It took me several months of agonising. Keith was supremely patient and he knew when to give advice and when to leave me alone. I felt I had time to get to know the piano well in the shop.
It was good to meet David and I was most impressed by his dedication and professionalism.
I am delighted with the piano. It has settled in well in the room and is now richer and more responsive than it was in the shop. It is a joy to play.
